This 1956 Pontiac had been in the family for decades and was ready for a minor re-do. The original 316 V8 and transmission were retained and a Fat Man Mustang II front frame stub was installed. This style frame is not idealy suited to simply add an IFS crossmember so the Fat Man stub chosen. This piece is pre-built with radiator core support and accomodations to mount the original sheetmetal, bumpers, etc. While we typically put out frames in a fixture for welding, this is not possible with the body still installed. As a result, we use a heavy surface plate under the nose of the car to make sure every thing stays square and true. In addition to the frame work, we also removed and reinstalled the front body parts. Just a few weeks after we finished, the customer drove it on a 2000 mile round-trip to Hot August Nights in Reno.
